Coach Jon Adams- Director of Skill Development

Jon Adams

Jon played his college basketball at Belmont-Abbey College, and followed that with his first coaching job at Bishop McGuinness High School. Jon coached there for five years working as the JV Head Coach and Assistant Coach to Varsity. He then coached at Wake Forsyth for five years as Assistant Varsity Coach. He has developed and worked with players at the highest level. He is a coach at Point Guard college and a coach at Nike Elite 100. He is currently the Head Coach of Team CP3. He has also worked with LeBron James as a coach at their Elite basketball camps

Michael Russell-  Lead Developer

Mike Russell

Born and raised in Winston Salem, NC. Class of 2001 at R.J.Reynolds High School. Starting PG on Back to Back 4A State Championship teams. (2000, 2001)

Started volunteer coaching at various youth leagues at age 22. Begin coaching in high school in 2007. Since then, coached every level from 9th Grade boys, JV Boys/Girls, as well as varsity boys and girls. (Reagan, RJR, West Forsyth, Mt Tabor, Parkland)

Co Founded and coached Team Winston AAU Basketball in 2009. While coaching age groups 14u-17u from 2009-2017, helped 50+ kids fulfill their goal of playing collegiate basketball.

Worked and volunteered at numerous youth camps including CP3 and Wake Forest Basketball Camp.
Currently 14u Head Coach for Team CP3 AAU Program.

Spencer Jennings-Developer

Spencer Jennings

From Midland, MI Spencer attended HH Dow High School where the Detroit Free Press named him All-State as a senior with averages of 23, 5 and 5. He then played basketball at Wake Forest University as a Walk-On. Earning his BA in Communication while also attaining a Masters in Sports Law. After college he attended multiple tryouts for NBA D-League Teams and played well enough to earn a contract to be eligible for the D-League draft. Although Spencer went un-drafted, he subsequently was able to play basketball in Colombia, Dubai and Japan. Spencer has experience training all skill levels of players from professionals to just beginners. He also holds the World Record for Most NBA Three-Pointers in One-Minute with One Ball and One Rebounder!

Jazmine Charles- Developer

Jazmine Charles

A native of Lexington, NC. She played varsity women’s basketball for Central Davidson High School. Played collegiate basketball for Lenoir-Rhyne University (Hickory, NC) where she was a four year starter. (2011-2015) She achieved many accolades there: 1st Team All-Conference, South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year, and WBCA All-American. She obtained two undergraduate degrees in Broadcasting & Electronic Media and Public Relations. She then played overseas in Essex, United Kingdom. (2015-2016) She played for the University of Essex and the National League team Essex Blades. She led her team to the National League Championship and won MVP and received her Master’s degree in Marketing. 2016-2017 she was an assistant coach at Catawba College for the women’s basketball team. She joined CP3 team of June 2017 as a developer.

Rod Jones-Developer

Rod Jones

Coached at WS Prep and with Team CP3. He has been involved with all of the CP3 Basketball Camps.

Tega Carter-Developer

Tega Carter

A native of Mt. Airy, NC Tega is in his second year as a developer at CP3 Basketball Academy. A 4-year letterman in High School as well as local youth coach. Carter has coached at various schools in the triad including the following: Glenn High School, Bishop McGuinness, Oak Ridge Military Academy, Lexington High School, Kiser Middle, Mineral Springs Middle and several AAU organizations (Greensboro Warriors, Triad Titans and NC Warriors). Carter graduated from UNC-Greensboro with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Sport Science and holds a Masters in Educational Leadership from Queen’s University.
Currently coaches NC Warriors AAU program.

Adrian Powell-Developer

Adrian Powell

From Conover, NC.

  • Played varsity basketball for Newton-Conover High School (4 years).
  • Attended Massanutten Military Academy in Woodstock Virginia as a post graduate.

(2008-2009)

  • Played collegiate basketball for NC A&T State University

(2009-2013) 3 year starter.

Accolades at NC A&T.

  • -MEAC Tournament Champions in 2013 (Senior Year)
  • -MEAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player.
  • -MEAC Tournament All-Tournament Team.
  • Led NC A&T to it’s first NCAA Tournament appearance in 2013 since 1995.
  • Led NC A&T to its first ever NCAA Tournament win in school history.
  • One of 30 players in NC A&T school history to score over 1,000 points.

2013-2014

  • Played overseas in Finland for Porvoon Tarmo.
  • •Graduated from NC A&T on December 10th, 2016 with a Liberal Studies degree.

2016-2017

  • -Director of Basketball Operations/Assistant Coach at NC A&T for the men’s basketball team.

2017-2018

  • Head Coach for the JV Boys team at Northwest Guilford High School.
  • Joined CP3 team in July 2017.

Micah Joyner- Developer

Micah Joyner

Micah Joyner is from Winston-Salem, NC. Played Varsity basketball in Alexandria, VA at Thomas Edison High School. He was part of a team that was state qualifying his junior year. Micah coached kids throughout the summers of college in Virginia. He has spent time scouting basketball players to go overseas. He has been around basketball his whole life. Micah states ” I just want to motivate young basketball players as much as I can so they can get to where they want to be.”

James Blackburn- Developer

James Blackburn

James brings over 12 years of experience to CP3 Academy. Working at all levels of basketball, including the pro ranks in NBA/Europe, college, and HS serving in various capacities including coaching, scouting, and player development. James also serves as the Director of Scouting for Basketball Elite, an independent scouting service.

Taylor Hatfield- Developer

Taylor Hatfield

From Winston Salem, NC
Taylor was a 4 year varsity starter played at Davie County HS  and graduated from my Tabor HS.  Taylor finished his High school career with 1800 career points and several accolades including regional and All State
Earned a full ride scholarship to Tusculum college where He averaged 15 minutes and 6 points a game freshman year.
After transferring to nationally ranked cape fear cc(red shirting that year)
Now coaching volleyball at Winston Salem Christian along with working as a Developer at CP3 Basketball Academy.

Kerisa Hatfield- Developer

Kerisa Hatfield

Kerisa Hatfield was a national Junior Olympian track stand out. She also played college basketball. She is the CEO of an Electrical Engineering company, that was recently ranked number one woman owned PM company in the nation. She is a published writer and a mother of seven. She has competed in multiple marathons, ultra-marathons and triathlons. She has coached basketball for 15 years and helped place dozens of young ladies in college. She most recently coached at Calvary Day School, where she lead both the volleyball and basketball team to second place finishes and their most successful records in several. She currently coaches at Winston Salem Christian School and for her AAU program, Team Chaos.

Steve Frazier- Head of Speed and Conditioning

Steve has worked with many world-class athletes including; Justin Gray, Aaron Roundtree, Arnold Vanopstal, Konstantinos Mitoglou (Wake Forest Basketball) Keyshawn Woods (Wake Forest Basketball) Alfred Payton (Orlando magic) and Chris Paul (Houston Rockets) .Plus many more! With over 14 years of experience as a sports specific speed and training coach he has learned that great things take time.

Steve has assisted two-time Olympian, Nabie Fofanah in training Chris Paul in the off – season. Steve is headquartered in Winston-Salem, North Carolina where he is the Speed and Strength trainer on the D1 side and the head Speed and conditioning coach on the CP3 Basketball Academy side.
